My story: From Lego dreams to clean bins
It all started with one big goal, the LEGO Eiffel Tower.
When James realised it cost $1,000, he knew it wasn’t something that would happen overnight. Instead of giving up on the idea, he sat down with his dad to come up with a way he could work towards it himself. That’s when the idea for a bin cleaning business was born.
What began as a simple plan to save for LEGO quickly turned into something much bigger. With a little help and guidance from Dad, James started cleaning bins across the Gold Coast, learning the value of hard work, consistency, and earning his own money along the way.
Since then, the journey has grown into more than just reaching a goal. It’s become a chance to build confidence, meet great people, and prove that even big goals can be achieved one small step at a time.
And while the LEGO Eiffel Tower may have been where it all started, it definitely won’t be where the journey ends.
What makes my bin cleaning service special?
I might only be seven, but I take real pride in every bin I clean.
It’s not just a quick spray and done — I make sure every bin is properly scrubbed from top to bottom, so it’s left clean, fresh, and looking its best. If there are small bits of rubbish inside, I’ll take the time to remove them too.
What I enjoy most is meeting my customers and making sure they’re happy with the job when it’s finished. I always aim to leave everything neat, tidy, and better than I found it.
For me, it’s about doing things properly and being proud of the work I put in every time.
More than just clean bins
Seeing how this small business has brought people across the Gold Coast community together has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.
The encouragement, support, and kindness shown along the way has meant more than words can explain. Whether it’s people putting recyclables aside to help James reach his goals, stopping for a chat, sharing kind words, or simply cheering him on, every interaction has helped this little business grow into something much bigger than just cleaning bins.
More than anything, James loves making people smile and taking pride in the work he does. At just 7 years old, the experience has already taught him the value of hard work, community, and how powerful support from others can be when you’re chasing something important to you.
None of this would have been possible without the people who believed in him from the very beginning, and for that, he’s incredibly grateful.

A Goal Earned And Bigger Dreams Ahead
What started as a simple deal between James and his dad quickly became much more than just saving for the LEGO Eiffel Tower.
The agreement was straightforward, if James committed to working hard and saving $800 himself, his dad would contribute the final $200 to help him reach the goal. At just 7 years old, James was determined to prove not only to his dad, but to himself, that he could do it.
What followed was months of afternoon bin cleans, collecting recyclable bottles and cans, and getting friends and family involved by asking them to save their recycling for him. He even started learning basic buying and selling, doing little deals with his dad by purchasing second-hand items at lower prices and reselling them for a profit.
Little by little, the savings grew.
By the time James finally bought the LEGO Eiffel Tower with his own money, it meant far more than just another LEGO set. It represented patience, effort, consistency, and the satisfaction that comes from earning something yourself.
More importantly, the journey taught him lessons that go far beyond LEGO, the value of hard work, creative thinking, persistence, and setting goals that once felt too big to reach.
Now, with one major goal achieved, James is already thinking about the next ones: continuing to grow his business, saving for his first car one day, and eventually even his own home.

When You Put In The Work, You Get The Reward
The Eiffel Tower is complete.
It didn’t happen in a day. There were long builds, tired eyes, and moments where the pieces didn’t go together the first time. Sometimes it meant stepping back, taking a breath, and coming back to it later. But each time, the build continued.
Piece by piece, the tower grew and so did patience, focus, and belief that sticking with something matters.
Now it stands finished. A reminder that good things take time, and that when you keep showing up and doing the work, something amazing slowly takes shape.
Now the Eiffel Tower is Complete… What’s Next?
With the Eiffel Tower finished, James isn’t slowing down. He’s setting his sights on new challenges, his first car, and one day, his own home.
These aren’t just things he wants; they’re goals he’s ready to work for. The same patience, focus, and determination that helped him finish the tower will guide every step forward. Every choice, every bit of effort, is a building block toward the next milestone.
